Description
Here's the perfect poetry brochure for your upper elementary students for the month of April: National Poetry Month! This project requires your students to demonstrate their understanding of rhymes/alliterations, figurative language, and rhyming schemes/patterns following a unit on Poetry or Figurative Language.
Using this graphic organizer of sorts, your students will learn to brainstorm their poem ideas, gather words that rhyme/alliterate, and identify lines/stanzas, and rhyming schemes. With all that done, they can then proceed with the written part of their poem project using 1 of the 3 templates given.
As an elementary Visual Arts, ELA & Science specialist, I know how hard it can be to find engaging and aesthetically pleasing projects that are age-appropriate for our students. Thus, I designed this trifold, brochure, pamphlet (or whatever you call it!) with my grade 3 to 5 students in mind! When wrapping up a unit in ELA, I always like to end it with a simple yet engaging project like this one.
This educational resource includes:
- How-To Guide for teachers
- Sample pamphlet for teachers, parents & students
- Blank pamphlet for students to complete
- 3 different poetry templates
- Evaluation rubric
For students to succeed, you must:
- Allow them to work on this project in class or assign it as homework
